Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA)
General Information

The Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area is 2,000 acres of prairies, forests, and wetlands managed as a wildlife preserve by a group of agencies including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the University of North Texas, the City of Lewisville, Lewisville ISD, and Texas A & M University. LLELA is open to the public every Friday—Sunday. Visitors to LLELA can hike, camp, fish, go birding, canoe or kayak, visit our 1870’s pioneer homestead, participate in guided hikes and programs, and much more.

The mission of the LLELA consortium is to preserve and restore the native ecosystems and biodiversity of the LLELA property, and to provide and promote environmental education and research.
