Join a ranger to learn the basics of kayaking in a relatively shallow and protected cove. All equipment will be provided including kayaks and paddles.
Meet: Amphitheater in the Day Use area
Bring: Dress for the weather and to get wet. Water, sunscreen, bug spray. Phones, cameras, and other valuables not recommended on the water.
Classes will be 1 hour long starting at 9 am, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. More classes will be added if needed.
Please come to the class a few minutes early to get a kayak, each class will have approximately 15-20 people.
Note: Pre-registration required. To register, email maria.shipley@tpwd.texas.gov or call 903-560-7123. Please specify which time slot and how many people are in your party. Limited space available. First class will start at 9 am. Single and tandem kayaks available. Children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult on a tandem. This program is free with pre-registration and paid entrance fee ($5 per adult ages 13 and up, children 12 and under are always free). Park programs subject to changes or cancellations. In the event of a cancellation registered participants will be contacted.
