Become a Texas Parks and Wildlife Certified Angler Education Instructor

This free workshop is open to anyone 18 or older interested in learning and teaching fishing skills in their communities. All equipment and materials are provided for the workshop. After certification, the program provides the curriculum, equipment (where available), materials and support to help volunteers successfully introduce others to fishing. Ideal for fishing clubs, teachers, scout or youth group leaders, after school or camp staff and community volunteers. TEA-approved CPE available for teachers. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear for outdoor activities wear hat, sunglasses and bring a sack lunch or money to purchase one on lunch break and a water bottle - preferably reusable.

Step 1: Use your phone, iPad or computer to register for the TPWD “Angler Education Instructor Training Pending – statewide” Opportunity at https://bit.ly/2GZPGa6

  • For new TPWD volunteers: click on the blue “Apply to become a volunteer” link at the bottom and follow the prompts to create a volunteer profile. Please remember to authorize and complete the Criminal Background Check section. All fields must be completed including your date of birth and Driver’s License number.
  • For current TPWD volunteers: Enter your TPWD User ID and password and click on the blue “Log In” button

Step 2: To complete registration, call or email the workshop leader with your TPWD Volunteer User ID, first and last name, and contact info. Additionally, if you have questions or need assistance with your TPWD profile. The workshop leader is Keira Quam, TPWD Aquatic Education Training Specialist.
