A birding competition as big as Texas!

What is a Big Sit! you ask? It is a birding competition where the participants must bird from the confines of a 50-foot circle. Only birds that are seen or heard from that circle can be counted. 

Stop by the circle, meet Team "Off Their Nuthatches", and discover one of the fastest growing hobbies in the nation.

Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound. Learn about binoculars, field guides, citizen science, and simple skills to make birding easier and fun! 

Ask a Ranger about birds, state parks, careers, etc. 

The count circle is on the Lakeshore Trail at the north end of the lake dam. 

This is an all-day come and go event.
